While the DeskPicture control window is in view, there is always one selected picture. The selected picture is the picture that has eight little black boxes around it. These boxes are called 窶徂andles窶 and are used to control the size and appearance of the picture.
Placing the pointer over any one of the handles around the picture changes the pointer into a four-headed arrow tool. Clicking on a handle and dragging with this tool scales the picture in different way, depending on which handle you drag:
Middle handle at top or bottom: Scales the height of the picture in the direction you drag.
Middle handle at left or right: Scales the width of the picture in the direction you drag.
Corner handle: Scales both the height and width of the picture in the direction you drag (holding down the Shift key as you drag will scale the picture proportionally, so you can resize it without distorting the image).

Placing the pointer over the center of the picture changes the pointer into a hand tool. To change the position of the picture on your screen just click and drag the picture to a different location. Hold down the Shift key to move the picture in a straight line either horizontally or vertically.
In addition to using the Hand tool, the arrow keys can be used to 窶從udge窶 a picture in small increments; this can be helpful in making small adjustments in the location of a picture窶 a trick that comes in handy when using the DeskPicture tiling feature.
